Tom R. Halfhill

PRESENTED BY
Shay Gal-On, Senior Applications Engineer, Microprocessor Products Division, PMC-Sierra and Tom R. Halfhill, Senior Analyst, In-Stat/MDR

WHAT TO EXPECT
Learn how to use benchmarks. EEMBC is a benchmarking standard that is more effective in determining the best microprocessor for your embedded design. Learn how to use the data, and why it is superior to other benchmarks such as Dhrystone. Join us as we provide an example of a real-world embedded application and how to effectively choose the best microprocessor using real-world performance benchmarks.

Tom Halfill, Senior Analyst at InStat/MDR, will join PMC-Sierra as a guest speaker to provide his perspectives on effective microprocessor benchmarking

This webinar will cover the topics below:

Benchmarking overview
Introduction to Dhrystone and EEMBC benchmarking standards with an emphasis on strengths and limitations
Effective microprocessor selection using a printer application as an example

Join in a live Q&A after.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
System Architects and Designers, Engineering Managers, Board Designers, Firmware Engineers, Project Managers, Product Managers, Platform Engineers, Component Engineers

HOW TO REGISTER
Access to this webinar requires registration on PMC-Sierra's website.

This webinar will also be archived at www.pmc-sierra.com/webinars for viewers unable to attend the live session.

2. MICROPROCESSOR HIGHLIGHTS
RM5261A 64-Bit MIPS-based RISC Processor Receives Outstanding Certified Benchmark Scores

Based on benchmark results from the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC®), PMC-Sierra announced that the RM5261A(TM) has received the highest out-of-the-box scores ever recorded for a MIPS-based(TM) embedded microprocessor without L2 cache. EEMBC Certification Labs (ECL) tested the RM5261A 64-bit MIPS-based processor at 400 MHz using benchmark suites that measure the expected device performance in networking and office automation systems.

3. STORAGE HIGHLIGHTS

Introducing Low-Cost 4G Fibre Channel Loop Switch Family for Storage Enclosure Systems

PMC-Sierra introduced its 4G Fibre Channel (4GFC) Cut-Through-Switch (CTS) product family consisting of the PM8379 CTS 20x4G, PM8378 CTS 18x4G and the PM8375 CTS 4x4G devices. The CTS products enable storage OEMs to deliver low-cost 4G Fibre Channel disk enclosures with higher system performance, reliability, availability and serviceability than existing deployed systems. The CTS devices integrate PMC-Sierra's proven high-speed signal integrity, together with an innovative FC switch architecture, to provide a best-in-class solution for RAID, SBOD(TM), MBOD(TM) and JBOD enterprise storage equipment.
